The fun thing about climate change is that, much like U.S. President Donald Trump himself, it doesn’t give a shit about international borders.
That’s why we should all care about the changes happening at the Environmental Protection Agency this week.
The EPA, which should probably be renamed the “Environmental Profit Agency,” has a new mission: to make it cheaper to buy cars, heat homes and run businesses.
As part of its new direction, the agency is trying to make some big changes — including rolling back restrictions on mercury and carbon dioxide emissions from power plants.
But its biggest move is its attempt to revise a 2009 legal opinion that gave the EPA its authority to regulate greenhouse gases. What could go wrong, right?
