Would you still consider me a journalist? I think I am — but it’s a question people who do the kind of work I do find themselves facing a lot.
The internet has democratized access to information in some truly incredible ways. It lowered the bar to entry and allowed for a proliferation of voices that previously would have gone unheard.
But it has also opened the door to bad actors, grifters and more misinformation.
All of this is happening as the media industry itself grapples with some big questions: is true neutrality possible? Can human beings ever entirely remove bias from reporting?
In this video, I’m going to tell you how I deal with those big questions as someone who worked in mainstream news for seven years.
Hopefully, this helps you to consume media even more critically, notice red flags when they pop up, and navigate this messy media landscape with more tools in your toolkit.
Have a great weekend. ❤️
