Things are bad in the U.S. and in Gaza. But you have more power than you might realize

It’s days like this that make it hard to work in news — and, for you, I’d imagine it’s also hard to listen to it.

Because a lot of bad stuff has come out recently, and we have to talk about it.

Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” passed the House, changing our neighbouring country in major ways. Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s lawyers just alleged that there’s torture happening at CECOT, the facility in El Salvador where the Trump administration has sent illegally deported folks.

A new investigation from AP also revealed leaked footage of U.S. contractors have targeting starving Palestinians at aid distribution centres, celebrating when they think their bullet found its intended target.

But even on days like this, you can’t give up. So after we talk about what’s happening, we’ll talk about what you have the power to do.
