I don’t spend a lot of time here talking about my personal story, but I recently realized that — at times — this has allowed others to fill in the blanks with whatever they want.
Especially the grifters who really don’t like me.
This morning, lying in bed with a brutal cold, I was debating whether to make myself work today. Then it hit me: why not hoist myself out of bed and tell a story that only requires my own brain to tell?
So I decided I’d tell you guys how I got my start in journalism — and the story of how I ended up writing these words today. It’s been a pretty wild ride, from pissing off men like Jordan Peterson to CSIS showing up at my front door.
I don’t believe human beings can be fully objective. But if you know the journalist telling them — the human narrator — I think it can help you consume your media with a critical, engaged eye.
I hope you find it interesting.
