Scrolling on Instagram yesterday, I saw a post from a little girl named Renad.

Renad is 11 years old. She’s a kid. She lives in Gaza. Last night, her Instagram story said “I’m scared.”

“I can’t believe that we are enduring this once again. I felt like the whole building was exploded above my head. I’m hearing the ambulances sounds everywhere now,” she wrote.

Her post reflected the horrifying reality: Israel just broke the ceasefire, which they weren’t doing a great job of respecting in the first place, with a brutal bombardment of Gaza.

Israel killed 400 Palestinian in the attacks, including children.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said this was “just the beginning,” even as family members of the Israeli hostages accused him of sacrificing their loved ones with the strikes.

Despite all of this, several western media outlets framed the bombings as “against Hamas.” Our politicians are ranging from timid to outright complicit, with Israel asserting the attacks were “fully coordinated” with the Trump administration.

Let’s talk about all of this.
