Is Carney actually a Liberal? Let's talk pipelines and the border bill (and that sketchy Conservative call)

Also, we really need to reality check that "carbon capture" stuff.

The Conservative Party has been playing with fire in its fundraising emails, casting doubt on judicial vote recount processes — and now, they’ve done it in a phone call too.

That’s according to some exclusive reporting from CBC News, which I have not independently verified — so you should all go read Kate McKenna’s story.

In other news, the premiers seemed to be absolutely buzzing after their meeting with Carney. Ontario Premier Doug Ford even described Mark Carney as “Santa Claus”

That’s probably a good analogy, because it doesn’t sound like Carney told anyone “no” during the meeting when all the premiers brought the major projects they want to see approved and expedited.

That said, no one got a “yes” either.

But Carney left the door very open to the possibility of a pipeline being built — contingent on what Carney called “decarbonization” and the use of carbon capture technology.

Which might sound like it could reassure folks worried about the environment, but uh, I regret to inform you it’s time for a bit of a reality check.

Lastly, Carney’s Liberals introduced a sweeping new border bill in the House of Commons today, which cracks down on immigration and grants new surveillance powers.

Between this bill and the pipeline talk, I’m starting to wonder: is Mark Carney, technically speaking, a Liberal?

Let’s discuss.
