Elon Musk's global political ambitions

The world's richest man helped Donald Trump get elected. Now he seems to be setting his sights on Canada, the U.K. and Germany. Not good!

Elon Musk is a very powerful person.

He’s the world’s richest man. He’s got one of the largest social media platforms on Earth at his fingertips. By all accounts, he used both to help Donald Trump get elected.

But now, he seems to be taking this playbook international. That’s something we should all be worried about.

In recent months, Musk has been loudly lauding — and platforming — his political favourites, like Canada’s Pierre Poilievre and Germany’s far-right AFD.

He’s also been viciously attacking the leaders he disagrees with, from Justin Trudeau to the UK’s Keir Starmer.

According to the Financial Times, he’s even “privately discussed with allies how Sir Keir Starmer could be removed as UK prime minister before the next general election.”

Now, elected officials are beginning to raise the alarm about the pattern.
