Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre could be back in the House of Commons before the end of the summer.
That’s because Damien Kurek, who won one of the safest Conservative seats in the country, has officially resigned — clearing the way for a by-election call and, before you know it, Poilievre’s extremely likely victory.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced Canada’s planned retaliation after Trump doubled steel and aluminum tariffs on our country earlier this month. But the planned counterpunch, according to the steel industry, “falls short.”
Lastly (but not least-ly) Bill C-5 sprinted through committee in the wee hours of Thursday morning. The bill has had Indigenous leaders and environmental advocates incensed over the lack of consultation involved and the sweeping powers it grants to government.
However, as of last night, it’s been amended — and it turns out it might be have emerged as something less…awful.
Here we go!
