I think it's a complex process to govern a country and there is no possible way to please all constituents and stakeholders.

On the other hand, it's relatively easy to criticize, tear things apart and say they should be this, that or the other way depending on your viewpoint and agenda. We experienced the evidence of this with PP's relentless, repetitive and falsehood-infested attacks on Trudeau. I dread the day he is back in parliament with his combative, hateful, inflammatory rhetoric that does nothing but fuel rage and divisiveness.

I have lost hope that we will ever be able to conduct ourselves in ways that foster respectful, constructive, and civil debate.

The media, both mainstream and otherwise, shares responsibility for the shortfalls in our current public discourse as demonstrated by the first half of your post, Rachel.

Thanks for your reporting on this and seeking learned input. Most folks will be looking at this Bill C-5 in comparison to others and mainly the 'process'. Historically, project planning & execution including input from consultations has functioned in a linear fashion - i.e. you folks examine this, draft feedback, then pass it on to the next group etc, etc. This linear fashion takes many years and then as things change finds the need to run it through the line again for feedback.

This linear consultation process is the best process to avoid doing anything.

However, the Bill C-5 intends to change the input process to the 'circular table' discussion rather than the linear separate review process. Projects are complex and will definitely benefit from the 'round-table' review with all stakeholder reps reviewing scope & details together, commenting and informing each other.
