The incredibly wealthy tech bros appear to be getting organized: they’ve got a group chat.
That’s a scoop from The Logic, which reported several Shopify executives and tech leaders have a WhatsApp group called “Build Canada.”
This, sources told The Logic, is a chat involving industry leaders hoping to “generate policy ideas for the next federal government.”
Fun! We love when the ultra wealthy tech bros step into the space of government policy! It’s going so well for the Americans…right?
Anyways, you should really go read the whole Logic article — because this is their scoop, and I’m barely scratching the surface here.
But this is the latest in a series of not-so-subtle shifts from some prominent tech bros towards the right.
Shopify CEO Tobi Lutke has been sharing some…interesting…posts on social media.
His COO Kaz Nejatian co-founded a (in my opinion, dogshit) right-wing media organization.
The company has apparently been supporting Poilievre’s wife’s “cause,” as she put it, and powers the merch stores of figures like Alex Jones.
But hey, when has the ultra-wealthy being interested in politics ever been an issue before?
