Did someone order a throne speech with extra Royals? (Also, we gotta talk about that book ban)

It was boring. But boring isn't always a bad thing.

I don’t know about you, but I have always wanted to hear the most upper-class British accent say the words “GST on homes” and “first time homebuyers.”

So today is, clearly, my lucky day! Because King Charles rolled up to Ottawa and read our throne speech, posh accent and all.

Overall, the speech was so boring that I think many of us might have rather watched paint dry — even Charles’ eyes seemed to glaze over as he read it.

But boring isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially these days. And luckily for you, I watched it and plucked out the important bits.

In today’s video, I’ll be breaking down the speech itself, some context, and the reactions it elicited.

We’ll also touch on another important story at the end of the segment: Alberta Premier Danielle Smith seems to be setting the stage for an American-style book ban in her province.

Let’s talk about it all.
