Trudeau already resigned and his party is electing a new leader who will call an election. There is no chance for him to stay on as PM. The Canadian Prime Minister is not elected by the voters, but is the leader of the party that has the most seats in the House. There is no power grab. He has zero understanding of how the US constitution works, let alone how the Canadian constitution and parliamentary systems work.
