Hey Canada, get ready for an election

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh just promised he'll vote to topple the government, and the Bloc Québécois and Conservatives plan to do the same. Smells like an election.

Well, looks like Canada could have a new prime minister before Spring.

That’s because NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh just announced his party will vote to topple the federal government, joining a pledge that the Conservatives and Bloc Québécois have already made.

“The Liberals don’t deserve another chance. That’s why the NDP will vote to bring this government down, and give Canadians a chance to vote for a government who will work for them,” Singh wrote in a Friday press release.

“No matter who is leading the Liberal Party, this government’s time is up. We will put forward a clear motion of non-confidence in the next sitting of the House of Commons.”

There are a few things that could put a wrench in this, though. Prorogation. Petty spats over whose non-confidence motion will get to be the Big One. Any party pulling an about-face.

But most likely, we’re about to be headed for a Happy New Pierre (Poilievre).

I break it all down in my latest video.
