Tune in for the first episode of my weekly podcast, where I summarize the news so you don't have to doomscroll. Then, we're talking tech broligarchs with Paris Marx.
Just finished listening! First of all, thank you so much for doing the run down on the week’s top stories - it has been so exhausting watching the news these last few weeks and at times I feel like my head is about to explode, so I really appreciate the summary you provided. Secondly, your interview with Paris Marx was very interesting! There sure doesn’t seem to be any decent people left in tech these days - they’ve all become right wing assholes. Another reason why I am not a fan of capitalism! I know Charlie Angus, the NDP MP, is very concerned about Musk interfering in our next election (whenever it should happen) and I’m curious to know what you think about that possibility? Do you think any of the Canadian tech bros will try anything or do you think they’ll just funnel money towards Conservative candidates? Great first episode! Please keep up the fab work!
You and Paris talked about the safeguards Canada has to prevent money from buying our elections. I am on the CPC fundraising email list and have been for a little over a year. Since Trudeau resigned, the CPC has been sending out nearly an email a day begging for more money. That's after boasting at the end of last year that they had "crushed" their 2024 money goals. Anyway, they are now referring regularly to the "restrictive Liberal election laws" which hinder their ability to "get their message out". If they get a majority, I have no doubt that the CPC will try to repeal or modify the spending limits in the Canada Elections Act in order to allow the broligarchs to pump their millions into promoting them. A CPC majority will render all our safeguards vulnerable.
Wow, great first podcast! Discussion with Paris was really interesting. I hope more people will listen in and learn. A problem I see with users of the numerous platforms available, is that they don't take the time to research the company or the owner/builder. They don't seem to care about the company/owners values but rather the glizty eye-catching, cool set of tools available and ease of use type platforms. Especially the young folks. Remember when people could get behind Jack but now seem to be leaving because of the new owner?
Congratulations on the podcast and thank you for your work which is very important. I didn't know any of the stuff about Spotify until I watched your various videos. Paris is a great guest. Looking forward to many more episodes🥰
Congrats on the podcast! So exciting! Can’t wait to listen to this first ep!
Thank you!!

Hi Rachel! Any plan to bring your podcast to Apple ?
I uploaded it via an RSS feed so it should (hopefully) be there soon if it isn't already!
Thanks for replying! It’s not available yet, but i’ll look back a bit later 😄

Listened to this while "working" but sadly I'm still doomscrolling
Excited to listen to this! Is there an RSS feed we can add to a podcatcher app directly?
Congratulations Rachel! Great 1st episode!

Hope you don't mind me butting in here, but they were referring to Shopify (not Spotify)
Yes you are right
