Yesterday was the anniversary of D-Day when Canadians, among many others, charged up beaches in France with the goal of defeating Fascism. Today our crisis is the rise of Fascism in the US.

The young men in Normandy knew that their act was one step toward their goal. Did the war cause not only human death and suffering but also environmental destruction and pollution of vast regions of Europe? Yes. Building Canada’s economy with mining, roads and pipelines will also cause environmental destruction and change people’s lives. And fossil fuels will be extracted at the expense of our environment in the short term. But our goal is to build a prosperous, strong and independent country. I believe that Canadian business, government and Indigenous leaders can evolve better ways to achieve our goal and protect our environment too.

Ukraine is demonstrating the evolution of warfare - drones, not tanks, are advancing military goals without the horrific loss of soldiers like the men who died in Normandy.

What's the easiest way for a conservative to get elected? Run as a liberal. (Same with mulcair and the ndp)
