"CTV Cancelled a Fact-Checking Segment in Response to Political Pressure From Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives"

Hey folks,

I wanted to share this with you because you probably saw the initial announcement. Unfortunately, CTV cancelled my fact-checking segment on Fridays — after they reached out to me and they announced it — due to extreme right-wing backlash.

That backlash included a person from Pierre Poilievre’s team.

I’m devastated, but I’m also angry. I’m angry because this is an attack on press freedom.

If opportunities can be stripped from journalists simply because enough people repeat the same bad-faith narrative, how can anyone withstand the career impact of doing work that matters — even if it makes people angry?

I’m really grateful to Luke LeBrun from Press Progress for telling my story. I’ve also included a personal video here, which includes the audio I recorded from CTV cancelling the segment.
