Terrorgram, 764 and MMC are now listed terrorist groups in Canada. Here's what that means

While these horrifying groups may merit the designation, experts have broader concerns about the listing process for terror groups.

Canada just updated its list of designated terrorist organizations to include three ideologically motivated violent extremist groups — ones that are pretty darkly disturbing, so feel free to skip this video if you’re not feeling it today.

The newly listed groups include 764, Maniac Murder Cult and the Terrorgram Collective.

The three groups, along with a fourth that was also listed this week — an ISIS affiliate — will face serious implications for their members, including their property being frozen and the fact that members of these groups won’t be able to use banks, to name a few.

I reached out to two experts about this development.

While both Stephanie Carvin, an extremism expert and former CSIS analyst, and Peter Smith, an independent researcher covering global extremism, agreed that there are good reasons to list these four groups, they both also had concerns.

In today’s video, we’ll dig into the newly listed IMVE groups and, with the help of our expert friends, talk about what this means.
