I feel like this is a foolish question but I still don’t understand: why? Seriously, what’s in it for all these news rooms and our government? Money? Is that it? It may explain the politicians. But CBC doesn’t make money selling weapons. Are there enough weapons execs calling the shots? It’s the only thing I can think of but… But seriously. What hold does Boeing for example realistically have on a CBC exec? Why can’t they just tell ‘em to take a flying leap and publish anyway? The stories would get engagement. I have a feeling I’m still hugely naive about how our country actually runs.
I don't subscribe to many journalists, mainly because I'm poor, but I'm glad I subscribe and support you. You are naming the nonsense of impossible "neutrality", particularly re: the Israeli genocide of Palestinians, and suffering the professional consequences. I appreciate you sharing these stories of how the consequences actually punish and silence most real journalists who insist on reporting the truth. And I really appreciate how they have not silenced you.
Thank you and those other brave and honest journalists speaking out in spite of the consequences against you. Another reason why I subscribe to you so that more accurate news gets out to the public.
I worked at the CBC for 10 years (early 2000s). I can attest to there being a strong pro-Israel bias in the newsroom. None of this surprises me. Just glad more people are speaking out. And you're right, legacy media is dying... for good reason.

Hi Rachel - Istarted following you here when I learned you were being silenced elsewhere. Keep up the great work!
How do I unsubsribe?
