Does the rule of law still matter in the United States? We might find out soon

Trump's latest push for mass deportations has him invoking wartime measures during peacetime and ignoring a court order, prompting constitutional crisis fears

U.S. President Donald Trump is getting awfully authoritarian with his latest mass deportation push, invoking legislation that hasn’t been seen since World War II and ignoring a court order.

The latest moves seem to have emboldened the far-right, who are now publicly calling for the denaturalization and deportation of people whose speech they disagree with — threats that don’t seem quite so idle when you consider the Trump administration has been detaining and deporting people who hold Visas and Green Cards in the country.
