A lot has happened in Canadian politics in the last little while, so I figured we’re overdue for a little check in.
Canada made a mark (get it?) on the world stage when Carney gave a widely-lauded speech at Davos. This came after the prime minister made some moves to diversify Canada’s trade — including nailing down a deal for Chinese electric vehicles to come to Canada.
Speaking of nailing things down, the Conservatives just had their convention, where they locked down their love affair with Pierre Poilievre. He’s here to stay, folks, as are the lies in their fundraising emails!
Seriously — just this week, they claimed the mainstream media stood on a stage and proclaimed they have Mark Carney’s back.
Just one hitch: the guy who said it represents the scripted TV and film industry, not the journalism industry.
But hey, at least the event that launched a new Conservative lie also gave us that beautiful moment of Carney in Hollander’s Team Canada fleece.
Carney wasn’t the only one playing dress up. Conservative MP Jamil Jivani spent this week cosplaying as someone who has any role in trade negotiations when he went on a seemingly rogue trip to Washington.
Oh, and on top of all that, the polls are looking bleak for the NDP as their leadership race enters its home stretch.
There is a lot to talk about — so I’m calling for backup.
