Canada is calling a new report exposing Canadian arms sent to Israel 'flawed.' But is it?

It seems like the government might be continuing its obfuscation efforts.

Foreign affairs minister Anita Anand just put out a statement responding to a bombshell new report on Canadian arms shipments to Israel.

Rather than launching an investigation into the companies involved, or pledging to close loopholes, or even apologizing at all…

…She instead called the report “flawed” and stated that Global Affairs Canada officials have determined “that a number of claims in the report are misleading and significantly misrepresent the facts.”

But…do they?

As soon as I saw her press release, I reached out to the report authors to get their take on it. They got back to me with a press release that went through Minister Anand’s precise claims.

Turns out things aren’t as clear cut as she made it sound.

See, according to World Beyond War, Palestinian Youth Movement, Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) and the Arms Embargo Now Campaign “Minister Anand’s statement today continues a pattern of deception.”

Let’s talk about it.
